Animeforwomen:💜What inspired you to start cosplaying?

@waifulinalu: "I’ve always loved theatre and being apart of a production along with all things anime, gaming, cartoons, comics, etc! Cosplay is the love child between them all! I pull from my experience as a stage assistant to help me plan and film my cosplays. Then I pull from what I’ve learned as an ensemble member when it comes to executing my ideas. Creative directing is an organic hobby for me lol! I’ll be in the middle of watching a show, eating, or doing whatever and will grab my phone or notebook to start jotting down what I’m envisioning. It’s super stimulating to both imagine and create!"

💜What is your favorite cosplay?

"My favorite cosplay I’ve done is [one] of my hubbies, Nanami Kento!! I even wore it to work and filmed the content when I got home. And yes…I did work overtime! Both at work and when filming [I was up from 6:30am-1:30am lol]."

💜Do you have a cosplay that was very challenging for you? If so what did you do to overcome the challenge?

"I've definitely dealt with quite a few hurdles cosplaying. I ordered my Makio dress and it was way too small! But I wanted to push through so I literally ripped the right side of my dress and kept it closed with a safety pin. I had to be mindful when recording to hide the ripped side and the safety pin kept falling off. Still had tons of fun though! I also need to work on my time management skills. I try to plan my filming ahead of time to balance with my schedule but I often get the urge to create and just do it! It’s all fun and games until I’m putting stuff away and taking my makeup off at 3am with work the next day! I do not recommend! Somehow I still wake up early so that’s my little superpower. I also feel like every cosplayer at one point or another struggled with financing their projects. The beauty behind it is that you get to really focus on the creativity and rawness of the character!"
